The Seafarer's Wife

With skin so flush her tear-stained cheeks began to grow numb as she watched her lover sail off into the icy sea.
The dark, deep blue was not always accepting of the young woman's plea.
Time would pass and each day clung onto the memory of a lingering kiss.
A farewell is most bittersweet with lips locked in bliss.
Her terrace window overlooked the ocean shore, a desirable view in hopes of something more.
Perhaps sooner than expected he might return with an embrace.
She yearns for this moment while nightly dreams are riddled with his face.
To be a seafarer's wife is no easy role, she must endure and persevere while nursing her heart's hole.
